Course VPN

The Course VPN (CVPN) feature enables desktops to directly connect with each other. 

This feature replaces "Turn off network isolation". When Network Isolation is turned off, desktops could communicate with any other desktop on the same server, but not across different servers or data centres. 

Course VPN allows communication between any desktop added to a specific course, regardless of the server or data centre.

This feature is only available for Ubuntu and Windows 10 operating systems.  For other operating systems, you can still use "Turn off network isolation".

The terminal screenshots below show the CVPN interface as seen from the terminal, along with some additional properties of the connected interface.

The screenshots below show the VPN network interface that is created when training workstations are spun up.  Two student workstation terminals display the `edge0` network interface—this is the course VPN.

Supported:

Supported when creating a course with Ubuntu or Windows 10 operating systems.

 

Not supported:

Not supported when creating a course with other operating system distributions.
